About Me (In My Own Words)
I am 2 weeks out from AVR surgery. I was born with a bicuspid valve that was discovered in my early 30's (I've had a heart murmur since I was an infant). I had routine echocardiograms since the bicuspid valve was discovered and my most recent echo in March of this year showed that my AV stenosis had progressed to severe. I am scheduled for AVR surgery at Abbott NW Heart Hospital in Minneapolis on June 22nd. I'm trying hard to stay calm and not let anxiety get the best of me. My future seems so "unknown", which is the most difficult part of the "waiting" for surgery for me. So thankful this wonderful website and for all of the information and support from people who have gone through and will be going through this surgery/journey!!
