About Me (In My Own Words)
Hello, Everyone! I will hopefully be getting a Mitral Valve repair along with repairs to other areas of my heart.
I have severe Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP), severe Mitral Regurgitation (MR), Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO), Atrial Septal Aneurysm, Lambyl's Excrescences on Aortic Valve, severe enlargement of the Left Atrium, Pulmonary Hypertension, Orthostatic Hypotension, Tachycardia (controlled with beta blocker), and a high BNP.
I'm considered a high risk surgical candidate due to Mitochondrial disease and prior anesthetic complications. II also have a suspected bleeding disorder (HHT or Osler-Weber-Rendu).
I'd be interested in talking with others who have similar heart abnormalities. Also, anyone with a neuromuscular and/or metabolic disease who is also considered high-risk for surgery.
Has anyone had heart surgery with ongoing fevers? My fevers began about 9 weeks ago after exposure to strep. At the same time, I started experiencing shortness of breath with standing, walking, and talking. Echos were done which showed a worsening of my MVP and MR. Lambyl's excrescences were seen for the first time, too. All throat cultures for strep and blood cultures have been negative. Infectious disease and other doctors are at a loss, but concerned since I continue to run fevers from 99.4 F to 100.8. Surgery is in 3 weeks.
