Back on after a minor setback. 4am Friday 72 hours after surgery I had the worst chest pain you can imagine. 10/10 elephant sitting on my chest. Had the full emergency response team crawling all over me at first then after sunrise had surgeons cardiologists echo tech blood draws. After lots of pain meds and muscle relaxers I slept all day. Bottom line no heart function problem. Found some inflammation and fluid around the heart that could be the culprit or it could be reflected pain from surgery nerve damage. They’ve treated what they can with meds and I’m now 24 hours without pain or muscle relaxant drugs. Hope to never feel that pain again. Thank you Cleveland Clinic for having 20 experts to jump on this in minutes.

Deena Z It's over, thank God, Charlie. So glad that you were at the CC, when this happened. They were all over you and also were able to identify the problem, which is really important. No one wants to be discharged home not knowing what caused that kind of pain and trauma.

Laura Bickford It's so good to be on the other side of surgery! You look great! I too had my surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. I had to use a walker the first 2 days of ambulating because I was light headed....I was horrified...my kids thought it was funny (they are in their 20s)
