Today is Saturday and I am getting ready for my mitral valve surgery. Packing my bag, looking over my paperwork has made this very real. I still worry a bit but I guess that's normal. On the other hand I will be happy to have this behind me. To any one having their surgery on Monday March 16, I wish for you a speedy recovery. My thoughts and prayers for all.

Well after a slow start I have been rebooked for my surgery! My new date will be March 16, 2015. I am feeling happy and tense all at the same time. I will be happy t put this behind me. I miss holding and seeing my grandchildren sooo much. I cant wait to see them and hold them and collect all my hugs and kisses. I am heading into a part of my life I never thought I would be going thru. I have mixed feelings because I have not decided which valve to pick. Each time I think I have made a decision I find out or hear new information I change my mind! Bet none of you had this problem hey!
I am curious to know if Canada uses the On-X valve here in Edmonton? I have looked around but cannot find this information. If
any one out there has this valve, can you send me a note to let me know how you find it and what are some things you have found out about it, how is I working for you and if any complications.
Thanks. Cindy

Meredith Bray I love my On-X valve, but i don't have anything to compare it to. I've been told I can have a lower dose of anti-coagulant, but my nurse prefers to keep it between 2.5-3.5. I have a nice tick that is (finally) soothing to me, after a year. No complications, knock-knock!

I am new to this, however when I was just 12 years old I contracted Rhematic fever. I was very ill with aching and swelling joints. When I retired last year I noticed walking and climbling stairs became quite exhausting. During my physical I asked to see a cardiologist. After some testing in Dec\2014 I was told I needed to have Mitral Valve replacement.
