Hello, Just found out recently I have a bicuspid aortic valve with stenosis like my father. Met with the surgeon yesterday and we setting up heart ath, lung function tests to get the surgery date set up. In researching replacement options, I'm leaning toward mechanical due to my age (57) and I'm wondering if anyone has had a ON-X valve used for their AVR replacement. Looks like the ON-X is similar to the St Judes, but is made from carbon fiber which allows a INR of 1.5 - 2.0 instead of the normal INR of 2.5 - 3.5 for regular mechanical valves. I'm still researching but if anyone has additional info I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! p.s. my Dad ticked for over 37 years with a Star Edwards valve, so I'm a little familiar with the Coumadin issues and concerns.
