It is 3:30am on Monday, March 23rd day of my surgery...let's get it done. I have to be at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital at 5:00am. I will probably be first on scheduled for aortic valve replacement. Please pray for me...thanks so much!

I am a 69 year old woman facing open heart surgery to replace the aortic valve within the next month. My cardiologist has monitored this valve for several years and believes it is time to replace the valve as it is critically restricted. I have had lung surgery three times as well as cyber knife procedure...all for lung cancer...two types...adeno and broncho alveolar...removal of half right lung...clear since July 2010. I dread the surgery...lung surgery is tough...I'm sure this one is as well.

Tammy Pilcher Hi Frances, welcome to the site! I had my bicuspid aortic valve replaced 4 months ago in Orlando. I've done really great so far and the experience hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. I found my wonderful surgeon, Dr. Kevin Accola, on this site and in Adam's book. I saw that you live in Crawfordville. Is that Crawfordville, Florida? I live in Freeport, Florida which is about 2 hours west of you if so. Frances Pritchard Hi, Tammy...yes I live in Crawfordville, Florida...about 30 miles south of Tallahassee. We have good friends who live in Santa Rosa Beach. Yes, please keep me in your prayers...I am really nervous. Will be using a surgeon in Tallahassee as travel to another city is not a good thing for us.
