Bradley Dunn My best advice would be to keep your mind active. It is stressful at times. However, at 15 months I rarely think about it anymore. I do hear it. It is always there. However, during work, sports or whatever; I don't hear it unless I think about it. An active mind is a quiet mind!

Hi all, surgery went well and I'm now the owner of a new aortic root and a mechanical valve! The first few days in ICU were tricky at times but you really do improve a little bit each day. The surgeon, his team and the nursing staff were amazing and they helped a lot with my wellbeing and supported and informed my family. Recovery is definitely a day by day process but there are little victories in each step. I start rehab next week which I'm looking forward to and looking forward to getting back to life. Thanks for the support - Kieran.

Tim Saint Do your research on replacement valves if yours can't be repaired. Try and find some peace prior to your surgery in that your team are highly skilled and your future health will be greatly enhanced once you recover from the surgery. Comfy recliner for those first days home for sleep and someone to bring you decent tucker whilst in hospital. All the best, hope they can successfully repair your valve and you have a complication free recovery. Let us know how you get on.
