About Me (In My Own Words)
Found out in college (now 44) I had a leaky valve while getting treated for strep throat. Been watching it for years. Was told I would need surgery in 20 years. When you are 20, 20 years is forever. Now, 25 years later here I am sitting in Cleveland 700 miles from home.
My local surgeon wanted to do the bentall procedure with an On-X. I didn't like him as he resented many of my questions. That was spring of this year.
Luckily I did my research. I'm meeting with Dr Lar S today. His nurse said he would try to do the David procedure (valve sparring). If that's not possible I think I want the Inspiris Resilia since I love spending time on the baseball field with my kids. I have no interest in being on Coumadin.
I'm also a little league soccer and basketball coach. I don't really have any symptoms per say other than the slight chest pains.... PVS which have been happening for 2 decades.
I have been given almost 6 weeks of from work with pay. I'm lucky enough to work from home with the ability to take breaks when needed. I'm hoping this will be enough time.
I'm also hoping I'll be throwing a baseball come December. My son is playing fall baseball after working hard all summer with me ( 2 hours a day 4-5 days a week). He is 10.
