Until this week there was a lot of worry & panic. I think I'm over that now - just anxious to get this done. So grateful that there are qualified professional people that do these repairs of our bodies for a living. Was very concerned about my life partner, Dean, having some difficulties with all this. He seems very on board and excited for me to be healthy again. He understands there will be a transition period and some ups & downs. I'm grateful to have him by my side.

Patti Kinsey You will be amazing- and it seems our surgeries have become routine.
My mom had her aortic valve replaced when she was 80 and lived until she was 91
And her heart was not the reason for her death. She was a great example for me. I had it done a year ago - I finally figured if she could do it at 80, I could do it much younger.

Marie Myers You are right! There are wonderfully trained people out there who do these surgeries everyday. And even tho it is hard to believe , most of these heart surgeries are considered "routine". Good for you to be over the worry and panic. I wish I had stressed less in the preop time. It really is doable! All the best to you in your journey!

Steve Farthing I used to know a guy who could mimic the sound of a fire/police siren. One day we were driving thru Blackhawk (decades before the casinos) and he demonstrated putting his head out the window and doing the siren sound and the car in front pulled over. He did this for three cars! Just a memory of the 'old' Blackhawk. Anyway, several good comments have been posted here about Dr. Kevin Miller at St. Joes.

Susan Killian I too only found out in the last few months, my primary found the murmer on a routine physical that I was expecting to be my best ever! I had lost weight and really exercising more. He sent me for a trans thoracic echo, then a TEE, and the a stress echo, My surgery is April 11. I go up and down with worrying.
