Was wondering if anyone had really high BP before their procedure and then wonderful BP after procedure? It happened to me after my TAVR last Oct. I take the same medications now but guess the aortic valve stenosis wouldn't let the pills do their thing before TAVR.

Had TAVR 10/1 and leg cramps were terrible after. Had ultrasound of legs and circulation good. Then. THURS eve, I fainted and woke as soon as I hit the floor. Laid down and took my blood pressure cuz I felt weak. Real low and pulse rate was 33. I tried to rest awhile and took it again and it went down to 31 so I called the paramedics. They did an EKG and when we got to the emergency room they were talking about 3rd degree heart block.
They put in a temporary pacemaker that evening in the groin and implanted one permanently the next day. I know what the risks are from TAVR and the percentage of people who get them is very low but it was one I hadn't counted on. The issue I have at this moment is my legs still hurt and wondering if anybody has muscle pain in the back of their legs from a medication they're on. I've been off Lipitor for a week and the pain/tingling has not gotten better.
Shannon Gray I’m so sorry you had to go through this. Prayers all can be resolved and you’re on the upswing.

Maybe the cramps are a result of the Lipitor I took for a couple of months along with that compression suck the head on both legs during both my hospital stays. I'm hoping that time will heal this because I can't even walk around the house much

Lorraine Willmann 14 days later and still the same leg pain after leg sonograms and ABI test came out unremarkable and circulation seems in good condition. I'm beginning to wonder if the leg pain can be due to a small fracture I had in my back almost a year ago. I was very uncomfortable lying on my back for hours during the pacemaker insertion and also I had a bleed after the TAVR and they worked on compressing the bleed for hours afterward when I also had to lie still. I'm getting depressed and looking for solutions as my surgery team seems stumped and has no answers for me.

Lorraine Willmann Spine Doc said pain not from fracture last year but could be from some arthritis an MRI showed last year, especially if I had to lay still for hours. They said to give it a few weeks and see if that along with Tylenol helped. I've had all these circulation tests on my legs so it's I know everybody wants to send me to a vascular guy.. And if the doctor does not call back today I'm going to have to make an important decision consider going back to the hospital ER. I don't live alone and have a 15 year old companion Animal who has severe anemia and hisdays are numbered. I feel a lot worse than when I went in before this with leg pain and heart beating in my ears and body which are new and disturbing. . I've read about some of the heart pumping issues people have had but it didn't look like it was only from a tavr procedure

Debbie Kelly I had severe pain in my groin the evening after my TAVR. An hemotoma was ruled out. After an hour of the nurse massaging the area, all was well. You need to get your leg checked out. I did not have beating in my ears, thank goodness. I am sorry that you are experiencing this setback.

Just wondering if anyone had leg pain after TAVR? Mine was 10/1 and I strolled the halls some for three days expecting not to feel too strong. Came home yesterday and kinda surprised at the amount of pain/stiffness still in both legs. Have walked more today than since 10/2 but doesn't seem to help. Would like to know about others before I go see my follow-up doctors.

Susan Lynn Lorraine - I'm not well versed in TAVR, but I'm fairly certain you'll get a bio valve - I don't think you are able to choose for TAVR. The valve has to be collapsed for entry and deployed once it's in place. That wouldn't be possible with a mechanical valve. I hope one of our TAVR warriors can weigh in with more definitive detail. Best of luck and speedy recovery!

Steven Monteiro Lorraine hi, I am a surgical cardiac nurse and have been participating in TAVR operations for almost 10 years now. There are mainly 2 choices in the Manufacturer of your TAVR valve; the two most prominent in the U.S being Edwards Sapien and Medtronic Evolute; both are bio valves and not mechanical, so there is no choice there; and you doctor will along with his team use the Company that has the best valve for your anatomy and the one he/she is probably most comfortable in using

Blood Thinners and CBD Oil.
I have come across information and alleged studies which state that CBD oil inhibits the effectiveness of Plavix. Has anyone been made aware of this interaction and/or any reliable information on these two together or with any other blood thinners?? I have asked two doctors and one nurse and no-one seems to know about it. There are tests mentioned to measure the P2Y12 which the inhibitor drugs are alleged to affect but even my cardiologist nurse told me there was no such test. Hoping to get an answer as I've been on Plavix for 2 months after stent put in and its important to know if its working.

Marie Myers CBD inhibits CYP2C19, which is an enzyme that makes Plavix work. So , it is possible that CBD will decrease the effectiveness of Plavix. Another drug that has this effect is omeprazole (Prilosec). Have you noticed less bruising when on CBD? When I was on Plavix, I had noted frequent small black-and-blue marks and easy bruising. Now that I am off it, my bruising has decreased. Plavix is very important post stent, so you may have to decide on Whether using CBD Is worth the risk.

Lorraine Willmann Thanks Marie. thanks for Omeprazole info. Bruising easily so guess its working but I can't even get any doctor to acknowledge that there is a blood test to confirm if Plavix doing its job. Guess I will have to stop using it for now since the medical field doesn't want to touch this question.
Since your obviously informed about this, would you happen to know if it applies to CBD bought OTC and CBD obtained with a medical card?

Marie Myers My thoughts are that the medical card CBD is much more accurately dosed. But that being said, the anti Plavix effect will still be there. I am not sure you can count on the Dosing accuracy of OTC products. cBD levels may vary all over the place on OTC products, unfortunately. I Think the medical field does not want to make comments on this issue, because there are probably not a lot of studies/research done in this area. The CBD Market itself is still The Wild, Wild West in my cardiologists’ words.

Hi everyone,
3 years ago I had an Echocardiogram and no alarms were set off so I thought all was well. Did not like the Cardiologist so changed. 2020 I had another echo and Doc referred me for a TEE. That showed stenosis so had an angiogram during which they inserted a stent and confirmed my stenosis needed correcting. Been thru 4 more hours of tests and surgeon and I met. After reviewing my tests with colleagues, he recommended TAVR at my age (74). I have no symptoms but a tiny bit more tired which I thought was just age creeping up.
Was hoping TAVR was an option and I was convinced I would do it until he said if there was a glitch, he would have to do emergency SAVR. I'm just wondering if anyone else was warned about this possibility? I understand there are risks with all procedures but the mention of emergency surgery scared me. He's done 80 TAVR's and only 2 had glitches that resulted in SAVR. I forgot to ask if they were bicuspid valves like mine and will call his office. Joined this site after watching a few videos and wanted to post to see if there are any more questions I should ask. Thank you all.

Marie Myers There is always a risk of complications, so emergency SaVR is a rare possibility. Keep in mind that the same is true for a cardiac cath procedure. In case of emergency like a perforation or tearing of vessel, emergency open heart surgery is the backup plan. You say you had a stent during your cardiac cath, and if anything had gone wrong, you may have been taken into immediate surgery.
TAVR is becoming more routine these days, so you have that in your favor. Experience and track record of the surgeon performing the TAVR is extremely important, obviously. Hope that helps.

Was hoping TAVR was an option and I was convinced I would do it until he said if there was a" glitch", he would have to do emergency surgery. He showed me the scar would be 3-4 inches long so its not a full sternotomy. I'm just wondering if anyone else was warned about this possibility and its normal for surgeons to point this out. I understand there are risks with all procedures but the mention of emergency surgery scared me. He's done 80 TAVR's and only 2 had glitches that resulted in SAVR.
