Had my second mitral valve surgery in less than2 years on April 18th, and home from the hospital. I was in much better health than for the first surgery, but now want to start a regular and progressive exercise routine. Does anyone have guidelines on how much exercise to do daily? I am walking (on a treadmill-still have snow in Colorado!) and a recumbent bike.

Steve Farthing Well you could go to the Golden Rec Center or join a cardiac rehab program but probably need clearance from your doc first in either case. Sounds like you are doing really well.

I go online and enter the reading and its sent to my cardio who calls if I need to adjust the medication amount. My cardiologist arranged for me to get the tester and it is covered by my insurance after I reach my deductible.

After my surgery (mitral valve repair) it was being adjusted weekly and took about two months to stabilize. I've taken warfarin for over twenty years when I had a minor stroke and then a heart attack two years later, up till surgery it was only adjusted up once due to finding a blood clot during a routine echo and the target INR was raised from 2 - 2.5 to 2.5 - 3.
