I had a full sternotomy as well, and I did not have continuing pain. It was a couple months before I could sleep comfortably on my side. Hope you get some answers!

Susan Lynn I don't know much about the recovery from a full sternotomy, but I would definitely see what your physicians can do for you if the restrictive movement and pain are disrupting your life. I wish you the best of luck in getting the appropriate treatment and resolution.

Peter Matthews Many 'Thanks' Marie and Susan. I guess I am also scared of the fact that they might go in again and have a look at what is going on. I have read on the internet about others that are six years in and still uncomfortable with their chest. The scare has been gathered for sewing at the bottom of my chest as well, so stretching my arms over my head is limited also. I am due for a Pacemaker check and will also have a Echo-Gram done on my chest, so I am going to them a peace of my mind then, but from past experience I know that they will all cover themselves and look after each other as far as admitting to negligence goes. To think that I have only another six or so years to go and they will have to do it all over again does not sit well with me either. Pacemaker batteries and Cow Tissue Aortic Valves wear out in that period. Thanks for your Well Wishes.
