Steve Farthing Yes, it often goes back to normal but depends on many factors such as the skill of your surgeon and hospital, whether surgery has been delayed longer than recommended, other medical issues that may be present, etc. A good question to ask your surgeon about. Here's hoping the best for you!

Rose Madura I think since your heart will be operating normally (me for the first time ever) life will get back to BETTER than normal. I agree with Steve that a lot depends on surgeon and hospital. Also your overall condition. I do think it takes time to fully recover.

Lilly Black I don't think it ever gets back to 'normal'! although I also agree with Steve. My life is much better after the surgery because I feel so much better, I have a lot more energy etc., and my surgeon was the best of the best! But it's always there in the back of my mind.... and my husband's and family's mind as well. I am much more vigilante about my health, but also much more worried about what the future holds for my heart. I hope that makes sense. On the other hand, I am so grateful that I have had no complications! I'm doing really well.....good luck! let me know if you have any questions.

This "journey" brought me a lot of clarity & perspective.

Rita Savelis Normal is a word that means different things to everyone. My thoughts are that you will have a new normal which may be better or worse, it will certainly be different.
Recovery takes time and accepting a new normal takes time.
Pre-surgery worry and anxiety is the one thing that all patients share.
It's hard. I hear you.
Take care.
