My blood pump is still working without any problems. I feel that the good lord is watching over me from above.
The first snow arrived a couple of days ago and i had to manually remove it from my driveway. For me it was a necessary workout. It is strange to think that i had several heart failures in so many (52) years .
I wish all the best for everybody here at Heartvalvesurgery.com and good bless you all.
Marie Myers Always good to hear from a “Long-timer”. Wishing you many more healthy years!

Ole Bore I have a St. Jude's. Supposed to last a lifetime if no complications. Jeg barnotat kontaktet samtidig med deg av Rikshospitalet. Ett år etter måtte jeg krype til korset og opereres, men det var grunnet aneryisme. Hadde min andre hjerteoperasjon her i statene. Hadde den første på Rikshospitalet en mannsalder tidligere.
Truls Einar Kalkvik-d'Orleans Hi Ole bore.
I read that as many as 50% of people with heart failure dies without knowing about having a bad heart condition . So I think we are the lucky ones.
My valve is one year today and I am so very happy that there are people who can fix us and get the right spare parts. :-)
I wish all the best to everybody with a new valve.
Lets hope they last forever.
:-)

Patricia Garcia I have a mechanical St. Jude mitral valve and I was told a lifetime, as long as I take my blood thinner. I had a porcine valve from the Cleveland Clinic that was suppose to last 16 years and failed in 8 years. My friend has two mechanical valves that are still going strong after 20 years. One thing I was shock is by how fast my porcine valve failed. Went for an echo in August and they said it had probably 4 years left, but 4 months later I went into congestive heart failure and it was severly stenosed. The surgeon told me that tissue valves ( when they go) go very fast and decline rapidly. You have to way your options. I already had 2 prior heart surgeries/ a repair and then porcine valve. After this I pray it is my last, as it was harder by far emotionally. Taking Coumdin is a small price to pay to keep me alive and hopefully off the operating table.
Truls Einar Kalkvik-d'Orleans I have no options now Patricia. I got a new valve last year.
I believe there's one way for you now on. And that is in a positive direction.
Wish you all the best for the future.

Patricia Garcia Truls..I understand and I made that choice at that time. Everyone is different and you have to find a balance in your life physically and metally. To much excercise can put stress on the heart and not enough is not good either. Mental stress is not good and we have to not bring to much on ourselves. Our overall health dictates how long these valves will last, so that is why I say everyone is different and we can't predict a date for any valve. I had a really stressful pregnacy in 2012 and he is my surprise baby. That porcine valve pulled me and my baby through it, but 2 1/2 years later it went down hill fast. It manged to wait till my baby became a toddler and not an infant. LaDonna I have been through a lot, but feel it only makes me appreciate my life and family much more. I feel blessed and this has opened up my heart to having more faith and trust in God. I wish you all good health and for all our valves to keep ticking away :)
