Dan and Family- You are almost on the other side of all the anxiety of waiting and I want you to know that you will be surprised and pleased at just how quickly tomorrow comes and goes opposed to the long waiting! I hope that as you go in you have only confident thoughts of your surgeon and his team(your team) who will work to mend your precious heart with all of their skill and knowledge! I think the moment you are awake from surgery you will be overwhelmed with the joy and knowledge that you are on your way to a path of recovery and that all of this is over. A new year and a new beginning for better health. All of the thoughts of each of us in our heart community will be sending positive energy, prayers and love your way for a smooth and successful outcome. Believe that you will be in the greatest of hands and home again soon!

Dan, wishing you the best with your surgery. I had a mechanical aortic valve put in Dec 5 2013. I had a bicuspid valve and a 7.5 cm aneurism on my aorta that was repaired. I'm 52 years old and extremely active. I humped the duck sloughs this fall, bow hunt and drug my deer out without any jaw pain or fatigue unlike the year before. I'm back running and playing basketball with coworkers a few times a week. life is great. any questions or concerns don't be afraid to contact me. wishing you the best.

Hi. Thinking about your surgery Thursday. Good luck. I have a mechanical valve. No one said anything about flying but I have a card for the airport in case I set off alarms. I can hear the valve clicking but most others can not hear it. My kids do hear it if they are on my lap. I also had one student with super hearing that heard it in class one day.
