Hi Dina! Just wanted to wish you well with your upcoming surgery at Mayo. Go into the hospital on the big day with full confidence. I got home last night, 5 days after Dr. Sell-Dottin replaced my mitral valve there in a minimally invasive procedure (2 inch incision) Everything went well, all my memories are of a highly competent and caring staff. The nurses were fantastic! I was a little anxious in the days leading up to surgery about waking up with the breathing tube. It’s not bad—they know how to keep you calm and comfortable and you probably won’t be 100% awake. I just faintly remember it. Bring your own pillow. A robe is also nice for walking. The cardiac diet is a little bland, but when you can eat solids, try the fruit and cottage cheese platter. French toast is great for breakfast. If you like Italian ice, you’re in luck. It’s available in abundance. Quesadillas and chicken pot pie weren’t bad, either. You’ll do fine. You’re in the best hands possible, trust me, and I look forward to your report.

Hi Dina, Are you doing minimally invasive or open heart on the MV Repair? Do you have calcification on the MV as well? I was diagnosed the same on the MV ...trying to get a second opinion. Johnny
