Hi Josie,
I get prescribed four (4) 500 mg capsules of Amoxicillin. I am instructed to take it by mouth 1 hour prior to my dental appointment. Call your cardiologist and he will be able to prescribe the antibiotic for you.

Josie--I'm experiencing the out-of-breath symptoms too. Had my aorta valve replace this past Oct 13th. I developed a plural effusion (water in the sac outside the lungs), which was actually painful for several weeks, but the pain is gone now. Now, it's just the symptom of getting out of breath when I do much of anything. I'm doing a ton of deep, deep breathing exercises--seems like I have better days when I really remember to do these religiously. Even on days when I have to cough a lot, seems like I breath better then. I even hung my spirometer on a string around my neck & set the alarm on my watch to beep every hour to remind me to do it. FYI--I'm a 55-year-old male & had to get the aorta valve replace after developing endocarditis. This was on top of having to have a stent placed in a 99% blockage last June.

Rita Savelis It can take a long time to feel less out of breath. It's still very early for you, Alex. And you may still have some water in your lung linings (which will eventually go away) which decreases your lung capacity.
I am only now (2 yrs out), feeling like I have a bit more lung capacity.
Recovery takes time. Your body has been through a lot.
