Mark, is University Hospital part of Cleveland Clinic? I am researching options for my 26 yr old son who needs aortic valve replacement - i'm holding out hope for repair but...we live in Phila. but have family in Cleveland so its an option -- I checked website and couldn't figure out surgeons who are experts in aortic valve, Ross procedure, etc. Any insight?

MARK VALENTINE University Hospital is not part of the Cleveland Clinic and both have excellent heart and valve programs. Each has a separate valve team. Your son's cardiologist should be able to get more specific from the Clinic or UH.

Welcome Mark, I’ve read your story and it seems very similar to my diagnosis but I haven’t chosen my surgery date yet. I have moderate to severe 30% regurgitation due to a bicuspid aortic valve, an ascending aortic aneurysm measuring 4.9cm with an enlarged left ventricle. My angiogram also revealed healthy clear arteries which I’m thankful for. I only came across this from feeling more tired than usual after strenuous activity and the Dr. saying I had a heart murmur. I haven’t had any chest pain and I feel very healthy . I’m still involved in a very stressful but fun active career as a firefighter so setting a date has been tough decision for me. This is a good group to join with many people here for support so welcome.
