About Me (In My Own Words)
Started to lose stamina and developed high blood pressure in fall of 2023. Doctor prescribed meds that lowered BP but still much higher than it was before. Doctor retired and I saw a new physician who listened to my chest and detected a heart murmur and did an EKG which detected a dilated left ventricle and was scheduled for a stress test. Did not make it to the stress test as I awoke in the middle of the night with chest pain. EMS took me to the hospital where they diagnosed severe regurgitation from the aortic valve.
I am in very good physical shape for my age and tests disclosed no coronary artery disease. I had sepsis about 1 1/2 years ago and was in the hospital for several days and doctors believe that infection probably caused the damage to my aortic valve, as well as, the aortic root and ascending aorta--all of which will be replaced.
