Hi Mike: My husband too is scheduled for surgery next week for the same condition as you. Bicuspid severe aortic stenosis. He has an aneurysm but the surgeon determined not large enough to treat. Just curious (if you don't mind sharing) what did your aneurysm measure? Ours 4.4 cm. Thank you.

Richard Munson You didn’t ask me but i have an aneurism that up to this point is around 4.1 and in 2 months it gets re sized with an mri. My point is that my cardiologist said that 4.8-5.0 is when they consider surgery. It is also good to know the rate of growth. Slow/fast etc. if i was being opened up anyway for aortic valve surgery my question might be, you’re already in there and in the neighborhood. Why wait.

Jay Burgess Mine was 4.5 and they replaced it with a Konect Resilia combo bovine valve and aortic root. Now I hear my heart pumping in my head usually first thing in the morning when I’m laying in bed. The Aortic root doesn’t have any insulation like the original so if you can keep that original that is the best option. But hey I’m alive so not going to complain about it to much. Have my annual Echo today first one since my surgery over a year ago.

Mike Black Mine was 4.2 in June, but the surgeon thinks it is best to address it with a synthetic replacement of the ascending aorta at the same time as the valve surgery. The root will be left alone though.

Rich Butela Mine was at 4.1 when they opened me up last month. Doc said it was too small to do anything with at this time. Also said the tissue itself looked very stable when he checked it out. So hopefully it doesn't come back and bite me at some future date...
