Hi Ron, just wondering if you went mechanical or tissue? If you don't mind me asking. Still up in the air. I've got 11 hrs to decide. Flip a coin ? Haha.
I went with a tissue valve. With me, I'm a geologist so I need to go out in the field and wanted to avoid the Coumadin. Best to you on whatever you choose.
Ted Miko Your not conserned on reop in 10-15 yrs ?

Ron Broadhead Oh a little bit. But I've crossed 60 so I'm looking at perhaps one reop. The surgeon said he thought the valve he used might well last 20 years, which should just about do it for me. And I'm really enjoying the valve. I can run again, which is really great. But I don't imagine that there is a "right choice" and a "wrong choice" in this matter. Besides, I live in cow country so when I drive down the road I wonder if I'm now related to any of the cows I pass. Just hope it didn't come from a longhorn, though they are rugged beasts!
I see that you are a mechanic. Got a couple of those in my family.
Best wishes for you tomorrow.

Ron Broadhead Oh yeah - Ted woke up after surgery and found himself with a whole bunch of new sisters. Providing everything's working well I found that having a little humor toward my cow valve helps a lot. This is all really serious stuff, but just a little lighter attitude works wonders.

Mark Haden Ron Broadhead, I remember you from 40 years ago. You had a short stint in the oil industry and I visited you once in Socorro. Why am I on here? I was diagnosed 6 years ago with aortic stenosis and now it’s time to fix it. I am 67, low risk, and having the TAVR procedure the middle of next month. I would love to catch up with you!
