Rose, glad to read you love eggs now that they are deemed heart healthy. I am a big eggs Benedict fan. If eggs are healthy, whats next cigarettes? Trying to picture me laying on the couch with shadow, a big pile of scrambled eggs by my side and smoking a lucky strike. No filter for me. Maybe wash everything down with a big container of hagen daz coffee ice cream, a personal favorite. Yum.

Watching him chase a rabbit around his pen this morning at 6 a.m. reminded me how fast he really is. 4 legged jet. Peter bounced off the fence a few times but he finally found an exit. I read your doctors age spans. We are obsessed with age in this country may it be politics, jobs, sports and on and on. It really boils down to competence in my eyes. I see some folks at the doctors office that i swear must be 10 years older than me and when i hear them say their date of birth i say omg , to myself of course. Just this week my pcp told me he respects my attitude. Nice to hear. I am fortunate to still be able to enjoy life at 82 but only our creator knows when that will change. Until then, i plan to work, walk shadow, drive my car to shows and try and ignore the everyday aches and pains we all develop as older folks.

Richard Munson So here is the dirty little secret on age related colonoscopy, other than the dreaded “your toooo old”. I was hoping to live till well over 100. Lol. I had a polyp the last time so he said to give it another shot. Maybe shot is not a good word to use. Intrusion might be better. Ugly is a better word but i am told colon cancer is not a good thing to get .They encourage ice cream marie. If they don’t discourage it, they must encourage it. Seems simple to me. Plus there is the anesthesia risk.

I enjoyed reading your story about the retired bosses wife. Its like everything else, its a personal choice. Sad that the work ethic that was a common trait in the USA has left the building. Not sure who is to blame, teachers, parents? I like to think that most things begin at home. Good or bad. I am happy to say that my kids and now grandkids have what it takes. Funny story about my grandson who graduated from bucknell and took a job with a major accounting firm. I called him last weekend to wish him happy birthday. He said grandpa, can i call you back, i am right in the middle of a work project. Later he called as promised and we chatted. Exactly what i would have done.

Richard Munson I think of mine often and the memories are always good ones. Still missed after 20 years. Got my final one month post surgery eye exam today. Should be positive, i see good. No more drops. Also good. Vision not quite as clear as right eye but pretty darn close. I know my balance has improved considerably. Next week colonoscopy. Not a pleasant experience but a necessary one. Most of us on this sight have no doubt suffered thru it. Now i can sit back and wait for my next health issue. I know its there someplace.

I agree that maybe deenas message board had a malfunction as her hvs was back a few years. I had a similar issue recently with a post i made in the past resurfacing like i just made it. Adam gave me a high tech explanation but once again my old feeble brain was not able to understand the computer reasoning behind it. On a good note my latest psa test showed no increase since my prostate biopsy. They will now check it every 6 months as part of the active surveillance plan. It has been very hot here so we have shortened shadows daily walks. We purchased a cooling collar for him to wear. Kept in freezer when not in use. Not sure how effective with his long hair but he does not puff as much with it on. Getting crowded on his neck. Pinch , flat and now cooling.

As I'm getting older and especially since my heat exhaustion incident last year, it seems I can't stand the heat like I used to. I'm glad your PSA is better too.

Richard Munson Today we skipped our walk. Too hot. Very humid. Had my annual kidney ultra sound ( it never stops) and drove the car out to the doctors. Convertible with no air. It was too hot for top down and car was running very warm. Old cars don’t like the heat. Stopped on the way home and had a fantastic cheese, linguica, omelet with rye toast and home fries. It was so good. It was a good old artery clogger. May take shadow after supper if it cools a bit. I like it hot but the last few days have been over the top. May just make myself an ice cream soda. Coffee ice cream and ginger ale.

Hi Rose , just read your post regarding Eliquis. I had one episode of afib when I returned home from Cleveland, 7 days after my surgery. My local cardiologist wants me on it for at least 4 more months. I see my Cleveland cardiologist in the end of September, we’ll see what he says. my husband and I along with our best friends are planning a trip to Vietnam with an extra week in Turkey in the end of October, and I’m trying my very best to get these meds in order, it can be a struggle🤦‍♀️

Rose Madura Yes, it affected my eyesight and made me way more near sighted than I already was. I was on very high doses so that may have been what messed me up. I also had some lung issues. I got to the point where I refused it at the hospital when I was readmitted for the 4th time. They changed it to Multaq which was very expensive but my insurance covered it. It was more tolerable but interacts with a lot of meds so not everyone can take it. My Afib was textbook in that it cleared up in six weeks. Now, I'm only on Amiodarone and Metropol. Glad you are doing well. Love your kitties!

Cassie was a wonderful 120 pound malamute who helped me recover from ohs and when she passed 2 years ago, i cried for weeks, i still well up when i talk about her loyalty and love for me, BUT, she was a relentless rabbit hunter and it was not pretty.

I am also happy about the second opinion without driving into , ugh, boston. Its a little different than heart surgeon opinion as this is a second set of eyes of the biopsy samples but important. More pathology. Depending on the analysis i can make a more informed decision on the next step, if different then rethink it, if same i have already decided to do the radiation not the wait and retest in 6-8 months. What kind of radiation external or internal has yet to be discussed. External zap, internal implanted seeds. Like heart, it won’t heal itself and could spread beyond the prostate. Once that occurs things change a lot. I have some rose bushes starting to bud. When i think roses i think of you. I am approaching this like my mitral valve. The more information i have the better. Nancy always says i try and diagnose the doctor, i think i want him or her to know i am not a yes man.

Its so nice to receive well wishes from all the angels. First i do a trade show today in ct. which i enjoy doing. Yes, i still enjoy work. Hard to believe i know. Nancy and i drove to doctors yesterday in the oldsmobile. Does it get any better than that. Urologist went down my list point by point. Said take as long as you need. Last appt. Of day. He presented pluses and minuses of every treatment. Went over every one of the 14 biopsy samples and what they meant. Only 2 were in the medium range. Most were no cancer or very low grade. Once i meet radiation folks locally i can decide about boston. Going in for a one time heart surgery which i did for ohs is one thing. Going in every day for a radiation treatment is another story i need to think about. I am perky but still 82. Not sure if the radiologist qualifies as a second opinion or not. Same hospital different eye. Time will tell. I am leaning toward radiation which also means having the hormone treatments. Ugh. Will start shopping for dresses and make up next week.

Deena Z Well, Richard, what a relief that it is not the very aggressive type of cancer you had initially spoke of. A lot to think about , but it sounds like you are going through your check-list one-by-one. Don't know how aggressive the radiation treatment is or how many, but you have probably already asked. Good idea re: trade show. Keep on living, that's our Richard.
