I have a question to the Community. I have a mitral valve replaced with biological prostheses. Now, in Christmas, is an occasion to drink wine in dinner. Then, my question is : Are the alcoholic drinks (even low graduation) strictly prohibited when carrying a biological prostheses valve? Thanks so much, friends.

Yumiko Ishida Merry Christmas, Fidel! Just read your story. My mother received a biological prosthetic valve at age 78. In her case it was for her aortic valve, but it was doing just fine 12 years later. My surgeon told me, generally speaking, there is less wear and tear as you get older, so the replacement valve usually lasts longer. So don’t let your valve hold you back!

I had mitral valve replacement with a biological valve (cow) and up to now, all has been all right. Nevertheless, am a little worry because I dont know which food is the right to eat in order to last more the valve prosthese I have implanted, specially meat ( cow, pig, chicken, turkeyi(may have I some list on this topic?.
