Hi Shannon!

I was also born with a bicuspid aortic valve but didn't know it until age 42. I also had the ascending aortic aneurysm. I was watched closely at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles. In 2017 i was diagnosed with infective endocarditis - strep from my mouth - and then a staph infection from my skin. In 2022 I had Open Heart Surgery to replace the aortic valve which had become severely stenotic and my aneurysm. I now can have my next valve replaced via TAVR. Shannon Marlow I believe I got endocarditis from irritated gums that got infected. I was forcing on my Invisalign retainers that irritated my gums and I never felt I could keep them clean enough. Then I went on a week long hunting trip and it was even harder to maintain a clean mouth with the retainers. I got sick after returning home from that trip which lead to the blood test that was positive for the blood infection.

Shannon Marlow I was also doing some deep cleaning appointments at the dentists for bad gum health. So there’s always a chance I could have got it from one of those appointments too. 🤷‍♀️
