When I had my neck surgery in 2001 I spent 6 weeks in a collar and could not drive. My son JD, who like Christopher had just graduated high school, was my driver. He drove me to work at Parmer and picked me up at the end of the day except when he was working. Then the wife took over the duty. They were happy when Iwas cleared to drive. Sounds like you are making great progress. Keep positive!

Steve Farthing Richard - l also had neck disc fusion surgery but in the 70s and had to wear a metal neck brace for 12 weeks but I could drive. I had moved to another state and went to a new neurologist to confirm it was OK to remove the device. He said it was OK and quickly removed it. I asked how did he know so soon that it was OK to remove and he said if he did the surgery I wouldn't have had it at all. If I had been in the US Army, I would have had a body cast for 6 months!

Sounds like you should live every day like it were Sunday. Do a few things the take a nap. Awake, do a few more things the read a little. Do a few things, then relax. Not that I actually get to spend my Sundays that way. Maybe in retirement? Keep gaining strength and stamina. You will be back to you busy life soon.

Best wished for a successful surgery. Since I had a heart attack about 5 years ago and three stents put in doing much better. My dad had a heart valve replacement and received a cow valve. He said he had an urge to moo at times (j/k). Hopefully all goes well.

Steve, my prayers for successful, uneventful surgery and quick recovery. That being said, rule of thumb is that it takes a year to fully recovery from heart surgery though your young age (relative) and otherwise good health (as shown by Grand Canyon hike last year) bode well!
