Hi Sue... So glad you are doing well. Sounds like the facility at Mercy was great. UCD ICU was incredible. Step-down unit...well, that's another story! LOL. Did they go between your ribs to get to your valve? Just wondering about the procedure they used on you. I had to have valve replacement and repair of two aneurysms on either side of the valve...so for me, OHS was my only option.

Sue Sanchez Grela Hi Larry! I had a mini-sternotomy. Dry Slachman had told me he would start small with the possibility of doing the full sternotomy if necessary. He also used a smaller bovine valve than what we had discussed. I had complete trust in him. Yes I was blessed with a private room as I'm sure it made it possible to get more rest, even after being woke up for the routine vitals, etc. I will be starting cardiac rehab in late April, how about you? I hope you are doing well in beautiful Auburn.

Larry Ring Hi Sue....
I have my first session of cardio rehab this coming Wednesday. I wasn't going to go through the hassle of driving down to UCD Med Center from Auburn for an hour's worth of rehab....but figured I owed it to myself, my family, and all those health care professionals who travelled with me on this journey to 'protect my investment' in the new valve!
