Hi Tammy, so sorry to hear this. I can imagine the pain you are both going through. Prayers that all will go well. Be patient. It will take time. Please keep us posted.

Pray and trust God I am praying for you both and for the medical staff that will be taking care of you. Even when you think you can't, just take one more step. It will not be easy, but you can do it.

Hi Tammy. I had an aortic valve replaced at St. Patricks International Heart Institute in Missoula in April 2018. They really have an exceptional staff and will take good care of your husband. Dr. Stewart Long did my surgery and I have heard that Dr. Schmoker is excellent from others who had him as their doctor. I had the mini sternotomy as well. The incision is only about 3-4” long. I went in for the surgery on Monday morning and was out the following Friday morning. Two weeks after surgery I started the cardiac rehab program. I would recommend he get used to standing from a sitting position without using his arms now. Leg muscles only. Also getting in and out of bed without using his arms if possible. That one is a little tougher but its easier to do if you get used to it beforehand. A lot of people sleep in a recliner to make it easier to get up but I was able to sleep in my own bed which felt great!
