Clare Auten Great picture. I read your story. Good luck. I had AVR. I did not know I had a bicuspid valve until Nov of 2013 and surgery was Jan 9 of 2014. I had run a half marathon in Oct of 2013 and then a 15k just 2 weeks before surgery. I consider that I was reasonably healthy before surgery. I am more than 2.5 years post op. I haven't noticed significant pump-head issues. Good luck.

Ellen Leng Thanks Clare, I need more of those no pumphead, still strong after surgery stories! Cath in 10 days to assure no need for CABG with the MV repair, then hope to schedule for late September.

Phyllis Petersen I read your story, too. I think you're smart about this. I complained to my doctor for years about bouts of sudden fatigue and, despite having a diagnosis of MVP w/ moderate MR, I was never told that it could be what was causing the fatigue. You seem to have a very active life and I'm sure want to keep going. Good luck on your surgery and recovery!

Kathleen F. You're doing all the right things! Take a look at Jane Buttram's recent post and the comments about "no pumphead." For what it's worth, I had the same concerns, and after 4 hours on the bypass machine for the 7 hour Ross procedure, I was fine. Best of luck to you, I'll be following your progress and sending you positive healing thoughts.
