Kurt Mottweiler Enjoying some Pacific Salmon after a day of tests - TEE, right heart cath and angiogram. No major symptoms (palpitations) but the TEE ups the regurgitation from moderately severe (earlier TTE) to severe. Dilated LA and a few other lesser issues. Meeting with another cardiologist and a surgeon this week. Then I have to decide whether to go out of state for surgery. OHSU in Portland isn't enrolled in STS for mitral valve surgery reporting and what I know of the surgeon is that he has 3-5 years of experience. And they are middle level on USN&WR rankings. I have an acquaintance who speaks highly of Stanford but they also aren't enrolled for STS isolated MVR. Since they look to be out of network anyway, I'm looking at Cedars Sinai and UCLA since they seem highly regarded and are on the west coast. By I'm curious that given the various metrics available to judge hospitals what accounts for the odd listing of hospitals on this site. They seem to be generally well represented in STS public reporting, but there are others I'm looking at that don't make the cut here although they do well by other measures.

I'm curious about this too. I'm currently seeing a cardiologist at OHSU, but they don't appear at all in the STS database.
I'll probably be traveling out of state as well.

Alexander, OHSU does appear in the STS database. They just don't report MV surgeries for some reason. A friend has his MVR done at Stanford and they also don't report MV stats.
