Cardiac surveillance unit, day four and about ready to bust out. With my "stuffy puppy" that my family gave me (we are German Shepard people). Note the 32 oz sippy cup: hydration is key, and inspirometer and breather tube for exersizing.

Tom Fitzmorris Thanks for the compliment, Kenneth. At this time I tired easily but was already walking good distances. It is all relative. Compared to many on this site I was fortunate to only require a partial sternotomy and my AVR replacement was only 1 hour 40 minutes, of which 40 minutes on bypass pump; and I believe that "time on pump" is a big factor in the near term rate of recovery, as I gathered from my surgeon, Dr. Castro. I understand that you are doing a mitral valve repair?? Are you scheduled yet?
