About Me (In My Own Words)
I'm a 36 year old male. I had Hodgkins disease in 1993 and was treated via radiation.
I had my first heart attack on 6/17/11 - stent on RCA at work.
I was diagnosed with radiation induced heart disease, carotid artery disease and severe aortic stenosis.
I had a second heart attack on 11/3/11 while in the hospital after experiencing angina - stent on LAD.
In July of 2011 after suffering a leg injury, I spent two weeks in the hospital due to a bilateral pulmonary embolism. I was then released on regimen of Coumadin.
As time passed I had several fainting spells and injuries as a result. I became increasingly fatigued and short of breath.
In January of 2012, I spent a week in the hospital due to internal bleeding (from my blood thinners). I was severely anemic and had several blood transfusions. It was at this time I was told I needed to schedule my aortic valve surgery.
In January, 2015 I had a hemorrhoidectomy to eliminate all other sources of bleeding prior to my surgery.
My aortic valve replacement surgery has finally been scheduled for Friday, May 15th, 2015.
Though I feel I am in good hands, I am extremely nervous and anxious. I've read Adam's book which has helped to answer many of much questions and put some of my fears at rest. But, I can't quite shake that scared feeling.
