About Me (In My Own Words)
I went for a routine yearly physical with my husbands doctor on November 11, 2016. I had been avoiding going to his doctor because I loved mine but he kept insisting, I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and he wanted someone else to look at for his piece of mind. The doctor talked with me and then she listened to my heart. She said I had a loud murmur. I told her I was 56 years old and never was told that. She ordered an ultrasound of my heart. The results came back I had an aortic valve leak that was moderate/severe. She then told me I needed to see a cardiologist. I went home that day in shock and made an appt. with a heart doctor in town that could see me quickly. He said he could barely hear the murmur but ordered some tests and told me to come back at the end of December. I work with the public and one day a nurse friend came in and asked why I was at the heart clinic. She proceeded to get my phone number and set me up with another heart doctor who saw me on Dec 12th. He told me he did not hear a murmur and he would not of even went further but he was stumped by her test results. He ordered a TEE test and a CTA test. Both confirmed her original finding of moderate/severe leaking. I am now going for an angiogram on the 17th of January and waiting for a heart surgeon to call with an appointment for surgery. I am so scared but am go grateful to my husbands doctor and her good sense of hearing because I would of never known until it was to late. I was thinking all along that the symptoms I was having were due to my thyroid issues and probably would not of even gone in for that anytime soon.
