About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with Severe Aortic Stenosis on Jan 3rd, 2018. I met with a cardiologist on Jan 26th for consultation about Cardiac Catheterization, which procedure was done on Jan 29th. On Jan 26th, the cardiologist advised if I did not have valve replaced asap, my life expectency is 1-2 years. At this point this was 3 Dr's who had advised my condition was severe. After procedure was done Jan 29th, met with surgeon. This surgeon advised I was moderate to severe. There was no followup appts. etc made. I called Patient Advocate line 2 days later and was advised I could meet with the Chief Surgeon on Feb 26th to discuss as I had many unanswered questions and was not provided much info. On Feb 26th I met with the chief surgeon, he advised I was close but not quite close enough to warrant surgery just yet. He told me I would receive a phone call from my heart surgeon's office for an appt. within a few weeks. I did not get any call, therefore I called Mar 19th. The receptionist advised me that I was not on any list and the file from the heart surgeon had noted that I was not urgent. My symptoms are progressing and I am out of work. Breathing is difficult, and not able to do any normal daily tasks without much effort. Unsure at this point where I stand.
