Hi, everyone! I have been learning about rapid recovery procedures and was wondering if this only works for patients that have received rigid sternal plating for sternotomy or if you can use it with wire encerclage repairs for sternotomy?

Yumiko Ishida I saw a picture of David Rasmusson with a protein drink on this site and looked into it before my surgery. David may be able to help you. It is my understanding that the major aspects of the protocol are rigid fixation and nerve block. I was not willing to postpone my surgery just so I can recover faster. The only thing I was able to do on my own was the nutritional stuff, so I did do that. It may have help me heal better, but definitely not faster.
