Hello. My name is Robin and I am the daughter of Arnold Pedersen. I know he started this site because he was having Heart Valve Surgery but I'm devastated to say he passed away on November 2, 2015. Tammy Pilcher Robin, I am so very sorry for your loss. I just read the CaringBridge posts and my heart breaks for you and your family. I pray for our Lord to hold you all close and comfort you during this difficult time. I lost my Dad in 2006 when he was only 65 to prostate cancer. I still miss him so much, but like you said about your Dad, I know he is in Heaven and I'll get to see him again one day. God bless y'all.

Committed to take this journey Aug 25th. at Northwestern -Dr. McCarthy. I went to the Cleveland Clinic diagnosed with Afib-Mitral and Tricuspid valve reg. Repair work with maze procedure to be done in Chicago. Talk about mind games-Adam Pick's book is very good.

Dan D. Dr. McCarthy did my AVR 3 months ago. Two days in ICU, 2 1/2 days in Recovery. He did a good job. I've had no complications. My experience at Northwestern was very positive, though a person who had the surgery on the very next day, with McCarthy, had a difficult time with an unsympathetic ICU nurse. While my surgery seemed to follow "best case scenario," my recovery has been slower than I expected. I'm still about 75% pre-surgery. Good luck to you, hope all goes well.

Dan I hope you recovery gets a lot better. Did you go to cardiac rehab after surgery? We have to stay positive. Arnold

Dan D. I'm currently doing cardiac rehab at Gottlieb Hospital in Melrose Park. which I started 5 weeks after surgery and will continue for another month. Tomorrow is my 3-month surgical anniversary. I'm about 65-75% recovered - no pain, but easily tired and sometimes depressed/anti-social. I'm swimming, playing tennis and bike-riding. Good luck to you!
