Terrie Syvertsen Hello Henry- Whoa the dreaded "Cough". Remember that even months out you need to be ready for the dreaded cough that comes unannounced and it can still rock you on your heals, can't it?! I had surgery in Aug.(2014) and caught a virus in October- thought I would cough my heart out my still healing incision! Got over that ant my Christmas was spent with another different virus that swept through our town-More coughing like we all had "Kennel" cough!. It was not a pretty sight in our household and I ended up in the ER with a very aggravated chest wall/sternum too. So I think you aren't kidding when you said it might have set you back a bit.
Keep something handy to cover your chest and hold on for dear life, no chuckles here! Continued healing and take those pills slow!
Almost two months out, did some raking and got mr heart rate up to 100+ , It recovered. Exertion tired me out a bit. Nap time.

Eleanor R Take your rest Henry. Exercise is good, but so is the resting afterwards, to allow your body to heal. I was not raking or even in the pool at two months, just walking and in cardiac rehab, now it is 9 months later and I'm back to everything and more.

I think my swim work outs started last October helped with my recovery. Also dropping 30+ pounds to a svelte 270 has been a plus. Hope to lose more.
I'd encourage getting into better shape prior to surgery if you can.
So far I think I 've been fortunate especially after viewing my before and after mitral pictures.
Nancy D Glad things are progressing nicely for you!! Continue to take good care!
Wiliam Height Henry I have same images, amazing the before and after, people I show don't believe it.

Nancy D I had the post op A-Fib for a short time, not sure if that affects that or not, but my heart rate stayed high like yours is for about 4 months, then it gradually came on down, with regular walking, and after the cardiac rehab sessions.
