Elaine Cutri Have they checked for fluid in the chest cavity lately? Mine was hanging out behind my right lung. They could see it with a chest x-ray. LASIK didn't help, but they were able to drain it. I had to have it tapped twice, but it didn't come back. Breathing was much easier after that.

Peggy Whitecotton Yes it's normal but my surgeon really push the walking. My chest was very sore and I did take the pain pills as I needed them especially the first 2 weeks or so. I then switched over to Tylenol during the day and took a pain pill at night so I could rest. My surgeon said pain is a heart surgery patient's worse enemy and it slows your healing. So take your pain med and walk, walk, do your deep breathing.. The more you do the faster you heal... No I did not get addicted... I am 10 months AVR post op and feeling great. Good luck!!
