Meredith Bray Yes! I started a new exercise program this week, and am coming up on my 3-year surgical anniversary. I held a weight with both arms, straight out in front of me and lifted it over my head and head said, "Yep, that's where I had surgery!" It takes the nerves a LONG time to heal!

On 2/12/16 my entire life changed, I had my aortic value replaced. I've known for years that I would have to get this surgery and the day came. I would never have gotten through any of this if it had not been for the member of this site. I read everything you guys wrote, I saw the pictures that everyone took showing the scar, I kept saying these are some awesome people, they're not afraid so why should I?? So here I am almost one year later and I am bless to be alive. Thank you for the courage each and everyone of you constantly display.

Lilly Black Well, I wouldn't say I am not afraid, Pam. But it definitely feels more encouraging to me when I see others share their experience and their scar. I am no longer shy to show my scar. I work 100% remote, so I have become accustomed to not covering my scar. I have accepted my situation and want to share my experience to help others. Glad to hear you are doing well after almost a year post surgery....good luck! :)
