I got to go home today! Pretty amazing for 3 days post surgery. Dr. Ganapathi and all staff were great! I’d highly recommend OSU Heart Health Hospital in a heartbeat.

It’s difficult to sleep in ICU! But today they removed all the tubes and wires and he was moved to a regular room! Sleeping should be better tonight! The doctor said he might release him home tomorrow. Hopefully some good rest and a little exercise will prepare for that. Doing well!

First day after surgery. It was a bit of a rough night but feeling better today. Tubes were being removed and up in the chair and walking a little. Still in ICU but because there aren’t any regular beds open. Planning on a Monday discharge.

A day filled with more preoperative testing and another meeting with Dr. Ganapathi. * Carotid artery ultrasound scan & pulmonary function tests ~ all looks good! * Learned that the surgery date is now moved back a week to 1/27/22.

Heart catheterization done via radial artery insertion on right arm. Good report on coronary arteries with no major areas of stenosis that would require either stents or bypass surgery.

* Had CAT scan of torso to assess aorta, main arteries, etc. * Met with Dr. Scott Lilly for evaluation of TAVR (Trans Arterial Valve Replacement). - Dr. Lilly reinforced that a valve replacement was needed now & not several months from now. - TAVR won't work since my aortic valve is bicuspid, and therefore, an oblong opening rather than circular necessary for TAVR. * Met with Dr, Asvin Ganapathi. - Very nice and reassuring discussion with all questions addressed. - Was interested in my background of Aero/Astro Engineering and graduate studies in biomedical engineering including cardiovascular fluid mechanics. His undergraduate degree was also Aero/Astro Engineering! Medical school at Case Western & residency at Duke.
