Well my surgery was 7 months ago and I'm doing great! I was so surprised to only stay in the hospital 3 days and never took anything for pain after day 2. I do think I have a high pain tolerance though. I think this was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Yes, it can be scary but I kept thinking, if I don't get it done I could die. I 've been through cardio rehab and I highly encourage everyone to do that. The nurses can answer your concerns and questions. I even learned how to control my stress through stress management classes. I take no medicine except the 81mg aspirin. I will say I sometimes feel a little off balance and my legs ache if I stand for a while, so I'm not sure if that is normal or not. Driving for the first time was frightening because I worried about my chest but I got over it the more I drove.
Judy Shaw Glad to hear you are doing well. You are an inspiration to me and others facing surgery.

Everyone has been so positive and encouraging that I'm almost excited to be doing this! I've been sleeping great and trusting God for the outcome! I think my friends are more worried about this than I am. Praying for an uncomplicated surgery and a quick recovery. Thanks to all the support!

Meredith Bray I had a poor cath experience. Looking back, I think the cath was worse than the surgery & recovery. Even if that's not the case for you, as soon as you wake up from surgery you're on the road to recovery, right? It's all about attitude!

Eric Wattleworth Eric had his on the 20th. Not going to lie I was a hot mess with anxiety for him . My doctor gave me sleeping pills and Benadryl but still no sleeping because of the anxiety. We are 15 days and he is doing awesome. He was diagnosed at birth with bicuspid valve but four years ago with the aortic aneurysm. These past four years have been stressful - worried all the time about lifting, activities, etc. He said yesterday that he was able to walk better than before the surgery ( breathing). So very glad we had it fixed and can start the new journey without all the limitations. My advice- get a great support person who will look out for you and put it in God's hands. With God and science behind you , (and all these wonderful people in this website) you have got this. Best wishes,
Becky

Gerald Poulton I must say that it wasnt my favorite procedure, the hospital I was in does it with no sedative which surprised me. I was nervous at the time but looking back, like everything else, the fear was the worst of it. So, another procedure behind you and now onward and upward 💪

Joy Hall Joining all of you on 10/17 for my OHS and the anxiety is only increasing. I also have not been symptomatic (other than crazy weight fluctuations) since originally referred to a cardiologist in December 2015. My overwhelming thought since then has been "How can I need OHS being so young and feeling this good?!?!" I'm ready to get this behind me now!!!!

Sheri Driver A lot of my friends think I'm crazy for doing this since I have no symptoms, but I like to be proactive. Who wants to be on vacation and have chest pains and shortness of breath, then it becomes rushed and you don't have time to do as much research. I'm happy with my decision!
