Hi all, I apologize for not posting since my surgery. Its been kind of a whirlwind the last 5 1/2 weeks. Anyhow, surgery went well despite the fact I needed the full sternotomy. My scariest moment was just as I was on the brink of coming out from Anesthesia I heard a nurse they had been doing CPR for 1 minute. At that particular time, I really didn't know if they were doing it on me or someone else, but it woke me up. I got the vent pulled that afternoon, and was in step down the day. The biggest hurdles I faced were double rooms on step down, and the drainage container which someone had to carry any time I wanted to walk. Anyhow I am now 3 full weeks into Cardiac Rehab and am doing 23 minutes of walking and 20 minutes of the "Rex" which in my opinion is a fancy name for recumbent bike. I will see my surgeon on Friday and get some new pictures of my sternum as well as an echo to check seating, pressures, gradients and all that. I am hoping that the surgeon will at least let me do my walking in the pool.
