Wrote often pre/post op, but never saw it posted.... Am 68 y.o. Retired Icu nurse. And 18 months post AVR. You are so inspirational and great to have much support, which is not what everyone has... Enjoy every day and every sunset. Once you go through this, and you NEVER take anything for granted again, which is a blessing... ❤️

Alfonso, you are young and strong . Be patient with your body.... Sounds like you and your family are doing well.... Chest pain, coughing , loss of appetite are something that you might experience,, Think of it this way,, you just had probably the toughest surgery anyone could undergo, and thank goodness,many won't have to... It is all behind you, and nowhere to go but UP. , my friend ... Blessings to you and your wife. Having an involved partner IS a big deal, and Something many are not lucky enough to have...May God bless you. Sounds like you are right on track. Remember, , everyone at their own speed..

Rodrigo Ponce For me it's been a transformational experience, life after my OHS. Life is... different, it feels different, it is better and not only do I love this sensation, I enjoy every part of it.

I hope you feel this way too once your awake in the ICU and your family is there to greet you with a huge smile, and maybe tears of joy because of your successful surgery.

I had 2 AVRs 2 years ago, I understand how you are feeling. I always say that waiting was the worst part. I must say a positive attitude, a loving family and faith got me through my surgeries. When I had the first one I never thought life would be the same again. It's actually better. Keep your sense of humor thru this and you will be fine. Take that from all of us who have been in your shoes and are fine now. Welcome to the club.

Hi! I'm Allen. I had AVR in November of 2014. And in 2005/I had AV repair so ya I've had open heart x2! I know what you are feeling and it is a heavy weight at this point but believe me when you first wake up after surgery that over whelming feeling will be gone and then you will be so glad you can finally again feel you are going forward. You will make it and then you will also be surprised how quickly you will improve each week. God bless.

Prayers are the best thing Alfonso. Worrying is not going to help - though it is normal - just leave it in God's hands. That's what I did and found peace of mind and soul. My aortic valve is being replaced on May 6th and I'm as ready as I can be. Good luck to you, and God bless you. Ian
