Hi Leonardo and welcome to the site. You’re clearly young so I’m wondering if you’re familiar with the Ross procedure? It’s a longer procedure but the research seems to indicate better long term outcomes statistically compared to tissue (which tends to wear out faster in younger patients) and mechanical ,for whom life long blood thinners are not a good option. I know your surgery is coming up soon but it might be an option worth investigating—there are many resources about it here (under videos) and many in this community who have had it. In the end, you will choose the best option for you, but as my retired cardiac nurse friend told me, you can’t give informed consent if you’re not first fully informed. Wishing you all the best! 🙏🏻❤️
I had OPS in Sept 23 & received a mechanical valve. I’m 58 and was very out of breath doing the slightest thing. I had very successful surgery but ended up with an infection in my wound.. My wound has completely healed now and I’m back swimming & walking as before! I am now on Warfarin for life but a small price to pay! Feel so lucky as I’ve got my life back!
