Hi Sue! You are in my prayers 🙏💖 I'm from Portland CT but now live in Alabama with my significant other. He's going through exactly what you are but his Dr will not operate. We are in the process of getting a second opinion. His Dr feels that his heart couldn't handle the repair. We're frustrated but hopeful. All the best to you!!

Susan Dunne Get that second opinion and even a third. Some doctors are hesitant to operate because of the risk. Others have knowledge of techniques to lessen that risk. Shop around. Maybe he can find the right doctor.

I knew about my MV regurgitation but I didn't know about my VT until the surgery, so good they found both! I ended up with some scary complications after surgery and a week later had an ICD implanted. They couldn't find any electrical issue they could ablate, so I have this "insurance policy". Haha

Hi Sue,

Saw that your were going with Dr. Adams. I did too for the same surgery, plus I have severe calcification so it was not an easy surgery. If I have any sage advice to share know that you will wake-up post surgery the most exhausted you have ever felt in your life, but it is short term. Every day you will get that much stronger. Also, get your protein levels up before surgery ( ups your hemoglobin) to assist with the lower hemoglobin that you will have post-surgery. I was too tired to eat much the first two days, so if someone can get your some protein shakes with a nice long straw it will help. Also, use earplugs in the step-down at night. A lot of bathroom and whatever else bells going-off:)

You will soon be in recovery and focusing on your daily walks. You got this. Godspeed.
