Frances Halley Wow! It looks like someone has inherited the family artistic gene, like your mom and me. I actually started working on a valve related cartoon, although it doesn't involve pigs. I'll post it when it's done. My new pig valve is working well, but I haven't yet tested my ability to fly!

Frances Halley That looks beautiful, Michael. I'm so happy for you. I am so looking forward to doing some traveling again when I am feeling better, starting with another trip to New Orleans to see my daughter, Colleen.
Tina Maroon Great picture. You should be proud of yourself!!
Mary K Fabulous! Wondering if you went to cardiac rehab and if so how far they took you in your recovery?

Michael Shaughnessy Never went to rehab. The nurse came to evaluate me at 6 weeks and I was already running 3-5 miles/ day. She laughed and said they couldn't do more than that for me. My wife is an occupational therapist so I had her "rehab" 24/7. I have had at least 18 broken bones and heart surgery. I am used to rehabbing. The human body is a remarkable healing machine. My approach to life is accepting my challenges. I cannot change my DNA. I constantly block out the "why me" thoughts. They are negative and counterproductive. Hard work always pays off both physically and emotionally. Good luck to you. Strive to thrive!

Frances Halley I was reading some of your earlier posts where you addressed your DNA and it's resulting cardiac issues. It got me thinking and wondering about my grandfather (your great grandfather) who died in his sleep in his 60's. I wonder if he could possibly have been born with a bicuspid valve that was never diagnosed. I have heard through the years that he died of pneumonia, but it could just as well have been CHF from a bad valve. My 28 year old son is going to be evaluated soon to see if his murmur is the result of a bicuspid valve. That would potentially be three generations in our family with this congenital defect. We could be the poster family for valve replacements.
