About Me (In My Own Words)
I have had an echo done for every year for about 20 years to monitor leaky heart valves. I was caught off guard when I went in this year and discovered I was in afib and my heart was going 144 beats a minute. I laugh now at how nervous I was before the cardiologist did the TEE and the cath now that I face surgery. To be honest, I am totally overwhelmed right now. There is so much to do and so much to learn about and so much to prepare before surgery. However, I am very blessed to have a great support system with my family and friends. They frequently tell me to take a deep breath and so far it is working although I feel like I am on the edge of a meltdown all the time. I am also blessed because I am clinging to my God, my Refuge and my Strength. I have to speak publicly at a meeting in two days and I am just hoping that is not when the tears will start. I guess this is the point in life when being stubborn will pay off. You see, I refuse to let this get the better of me! It's just not an option! I have entirely too much life to enjoy yet. Here we go. Hang on! It might be a bumpy ride at times but that's ok. I can do this!
