Second opinion was the same as the first. 2 valve replacements. Really liked that both primary and assisting surgeons both allowed as much time as my wife and I needed. Answered all our additional questions and we have a peace and confidence we're heading down the right path. Obviously, it's not the same for everyone, so be sure you ask lots of questions, do lots of research, chat to others on this website, etc., until you have a peace on your decision as well. I am very glad my wife had a picture of God's hands, not holding or manipulating the surgeon's hands, but that they were His hands in control of it all. What better place could I be in?
Strength to all!
Barbara Adams You will be in His hands! Praying for you and His perfect peace!

Ruth Valenzuela What a wonderful vision your wife received from God! He's got this so all you need do is surrender and let the peace that surpasses all understanding fill your spirit and rest in His hands! The day I went in for my surgery, I had such a peace, you could have sliced it with a knife if that makes sense. Will be praying for you!

Brian Stugart Thank you so much all. I'm very blessed that our 3 daughters, our one son in law and 2 grand kids will all be with my wife and I tomorrow for a family day the day before my surgery. One came home from studying in Germany, one from California, the third from clear across the state of Colorado. What a wonderful bunch. On top of this, our extended family, friends from all over, our church family and even neighbors that have heard of my surgery are all cheering me on. What a "Great Cloud of Witnesses" as my wonderful wife said!
Kim Boardman Prayers for you tomorrow, and wishing you a speedy recovery!

Emily Rowley That is positive there is continuity, which Surgeon are you going with? That is great and what you need to be allowed time and feel comfortable with your medical team. How have you been going and is a date set or more testing? ☺

This coming Friday is my "overhaul" date. I am very glad that my #1 choice for surgeon will be assisted by my #2 choice. I get to meet #2 tomorrow. Still lots of questions of course. I agree with so many of my Heart Buddies that asking questions is a must! I am so blessed to have a GREAT wife who thinks of so many things that I do not. She really does complete me!!! I hope you all have that first line of support from someone that KNOWS you, and can BE with you, LISTEN to you, ASK questions for you and of you, pray for you, pray with you and most of all LAUGH with you!
Cheers to All

Isn't the waiting the worst part?!?
January I went in for a complete physical, preparatory to having ankle surgery. My PCP informed me my heart murmur was "no longer a sweet little lullaby", that it needed to be checked out. I was referred to a Cardiologist who did tests and confirmed both my aortic and mitral valves have moderate to severe stenosis. This caused by radiation treatments I received for Hodgkins Lymphoma WAY back in 1980/1981.
So, the ankle surgery has been put on hold obviously. The two valves set to be replaced 4.29.2016.
And the wait goes on....

Nicola Laker I've been waiting since 29th January ......I actually forget about it sometimes! Which probably isn't a bad thing as I think I would have gone mad by now. Have really bizarre dreams though. No doubt my sub- concious is still aware of what lays ahead . Xx
Tracy Simmons Yes, I totally agree and think waiting is the worst part!!
Wanda Mroz Waiting is the worst but I did actually forgot at times!

Emily Rowley waiting can be very hard, hang in there though and you will make it through. Being well informed, updated with information from my medical team and keeping busy help me make it through the waiting part. Have you chosen what type of replacement valve you are going to have? You have been through a lot, I'm sorry to hear you have heart problems as a result of treatment. Take care, Emily.
Mary Wagner Waiting is the worst part. You look so healthy - just follow doctors orders!
Joan Summers Yes, waiting can be so stressful. Seems to be always on my mind!

Erin Hannum Hi Brian, I had the same thing - two valves bad and a six week wait - during Christmas season as well! I tried to be a good actress, but didn't always succeed. If I had to do over again, I wouldn't overthink this the way I did. I'm fine, our friends here are fine and you will be too.
