Hello, my name is Frank and although I have monitored this website this is my first post. I am scheduled for heart valve surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN on February 10. I am having my Aortic valve replaced and my Mitral valve either repaired or replaced. I've researched about everything I could get my hands on and I'm pumped and ready to go. I'm encouraged by every ones posts. PTL

Frank E Wonka III Hi Ben, Dr. Richard C. Daly will be doing my surgery. I'm scheduled for tests and electrocardiogram on Feb. 9th and surgery the next day. I received a packet of useful information about Mayo Clinic along with information on hotel/motels and schedule of appointments last week. Mayo has a good app you can download to your cell phone which will contain your appointments, lab work, etc... Will keep you posted on what up after my surgery. Ben Hyman Hello Frank. I've never met Dr. Daly but have heard great things about him. He, Dr Dearani and one other who's name I can't recall are their robotics surgeons as well. Dearani is the head of their Cardiothoracic surgery deoartment (Michalena called him "big boss") so I feel confident in his skills. Everyone on this site that has had surgery at Mayo has nothing but glowing reviews and high praise for their treatment and the high skills and compassion from nursing staff. I think we both will be in good hands. Mayo is close to home for me. What drew you to Mayo?

Frank E Wonka III Hay Ben. I live in Wichita KS and will be driving at least 9 hours to Mayo. My cardiologist is Dr. Bakdash, in Wichita, and he suggested Mayo because of the frequency of heart valve replacement. He said they to the surgery on a regular basis and has enjoyed great success by sending his parents there for surgery. I've known for some 20 years that I had leaky valves and knew I would need surgery someday. All test indicate my heart is healthy just the leaking valves so that is positive news. I have a appointment by telephone tomorrow with an RN so perhaps will get more information. Leaving Feb 8th for Mayo, tests and consultation with Dr. Daly on the 9th and surgery the 10th. I will keep you posted on whats up. Take care and thanks for sharing with me.
