I officially made it through to the other side on Monday, Oct 23. The first two days were the hardest, but things got better when I was able to go to the regular cardiology floor. Boy, people were not kidding when they said I would be tired.

They had birthday/good luck get together for me at work today. I held it together until the end of the day. For some reason everyone stopping by my desk and wishing me well made everything seem more real. I can't believe that my surgery is less than a week away. I'm so nervous.

Cathy Loughlin I can totally imagine! My
Mitral valve repair is not until January and I’ve already experienced some intense panic attacks early on. Am feeling much better now but I’m sure when I’m a week out, I’ll be pretty stressed! Just think though, by then you’ll be well on your way to recovery and encouraging me! Sending you positive vibes tonight!!

Louanna Miller Hang in there Heather. You’ve got this. It will be okay. Think positive thoughts and don’t allow worry and fear to control you. I did exactly what Terry Goin described. I reminded myself of those who have experienced valve surgery before me and healed successfully. Keep positive.

Rob Sparling Heather, I was pretty nervous early on. My nerves were at their worst when I joined the community and that was about 3 weeks prior to surgery. It gets better and then, as surgery approaches, it gets a little bit worse. The night before is really tough. But hold it together — you got this! It is easier than you think and you are stronger than you know. (What a great combo, eh?)

Heather Brown I was pretty scared to have this procedure done, but it wasn't to bad. They were able to go through my wrist instead of the artery in the groin.
