Thomas Brusstar Great, and welcome. Catch it before it turns into a bigger problem. I didn't know mine was so bad, and my mitral valve actually developed a kind of torn portion, a "flail leaflet." Bad. I know it is a big step to have surgery, but letting your valve degrade more and more until it's an emergency is worse! This site can help to de-mystify what this will look like.

Thomas Brusstar I showed up first thing Tuesday for the first surgery of the day. I stayed that night in ICU, then Wednesday and Thursday nights in the regular "step down" room, and was home for dinner on Friday. They would have let me stay until Saturday if I wanted, but unless there are complications, the hospital isn't really good for anything except infections and interrupted sleep. Home nursing visits will do all the monitoring you need.
